10/10Coconut Grove more than lived up to our expectations. It's a wonderful property, a great base for a holiday in south Sri Lanka. The house is perfect for a large family. The bedrooms are all good sizes, with part outside bathrooms for three of them. The living area is good in the evenings and the dining areas, inside and out, are lovely. The pool is fantastic - easy to spend the whole day there, swimming and relaxing. The immediate neighbourhood is quiet. There is a beach only five minutes walk away which is pretty, but the water clearly has strong currents so would take care with children. It is not far from Fort Galle, Unawatuna etc. We also did the tour to the tea plantation, around 30 minutes away. Overall, a fantastic experience - really wonderful.
10/10The house is located about 100 yards from the main road and so some road noise can be heard from the garden. The house is quite sparsely decorated. The house is given really on self catering although the house keeper - who has been with the owners since they renovated several years ago - will prepare bkfast and can cook local cuisine. There are lovely nearby beaches and tuk tuk transport is easy. Sleeping 8, the house is great value. The house keeper is part of the family and lovely... her curries are delicious. A more capable cook can be arranged at time of booking.
