Set against a picture-perfect backdrop of a a lush, palm-filled tropical jungle, Woolamai Beach House offers a scenic and serene setting, which lends the villa a tranquil ambience that’s ideal for a restful beach holiday.
While villa vacationers will enjoy ultimate privacy that comes from residing in a tucked away location, the best attractions in area - like the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Galle Fort - are still within easy reach. The home accommodates 10 guests comfortably, and is a great bet for sharing among two families or groups of friends.
Three king bedrooms and a double bunk bedroom are spread out across the property. Capacious and awash in neutral colours, each of the bedrooms exudes a restful, restorative vibe. Air conditioned interiors provide cool comfort indoors, and the attached en suite allows for refreshing showers or a relaxing soak in the tub. The double bunk room is a child-friendly space that sleeps four.
A sparkling pool stretches out across the villa’s palm-filled garden, inviting vacationers to take a dip while soaking up the sea breezes and ocean views. Recliners lining a wooden deck by the edge of the pool are set under the shade of patio umbrellas and swaying coconut palms. Travellers of all ages will enjoy playing or strolling through the sprawling garden, and a gate by the edge of the garden allows easy access out to the beach.
The communal spaces at Woolamai Beach House are spread out across the ground floor. The living area boasts an open design, with views out to the pool, garden and ocean. The decor is kept elegant and simple; neutral hues are selected for the colour scheme, and wooden furnishings dominate within. An open layout allows for the kitchen, dining area and lounge to flow seamlessly into one another, and all spaces are light-filled and feel wonderfully expansive.
The home is made kid-friendly with the addition of kids toys, games, beach gear and pool toys. Cots, high chairs and other child-friendly equipment can be arranged at request.
Woolamai Beach House is a fully serviced property; guests will enjoy services from a cook, server and housekeeper throughout their stay. Daily breakfasts are included, and other meals can be ordered from an in-villa menu that features a variety of seafood and tropical dishes. Guests are welcome to self cater using the villa’s fully equipped kitchen.
With the beach located just steps away from your garden, getting plenty of sun, sand and sea is the way of life at Woolamai. Enjoy plenty of beach walks and sunbathing sessions, but do note that the waters aren’t always suitable for swimming as strong currents are present. Beaches with calm waters and beach lagoons are peppered around the vicinity - but sea conditions are variable, so check with the staff for advice on the best places to swim during the time of your vacation.
Around your villa are attractions like the Galle Fort (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), a fortified town where you’ll find charming streets lined with historic churches, Dutch colonial buildings, restaurants, cafés, galleries and boutiques. Unawatuna, a popular beach that boasts excellent swimming, scuba diving, snorkelling and seafood dining establishments is just a skip away.
Sri Lanka is a destination known for its diverse wildlife and sprawling tea plantations. A whale watching tour at Mirissa promises to be an incredible experience, as is a visit to the Sea Turtle Farm & Hatchery at Habaraduwa; the organisation takes care to hatch and release turtles carefully into the ocean so no wildlife is harmed in the process. If you could only pick one tea plantation to visit, make it the Handunugoda Tea Estate as the plantation sets itself apart from the rest with its comprehensive tea tasting sessions and well-organised tours.
10/10The pictures don't do this place justice. It is beautiful inside and out. We stayed here with two families - four adults and four children - and there was still plenty of room. The swimming pool was the highlight for us, as the beach is beautiful but too dangerous for us to swim in with children. It's infinity style is just stunning and the temperature meant we could stay in there all day long (which we did on numerous occasions!). We also loved the in-house catering and got the staff to cook us two meals a day, with separate dinner times for the children and adults so you get the ease of staying home but absolute restaurant-quality food. Tuk-tuks are available right outside the front door, which we also made the most of with day trips to the turtle hatchery, Unawatuna for snorkelling, the tea plantations and Galle Fort.
10/10We spent 6 nights here with our family and another family (5 adults and 5 children in total) - The house is amazing... so much more than we could have imagined !! The staff at the house are so warm and welcoming - we ended up eating many of our meals at the house as the food was so good.. a highlight for us was the seafood bbq we had on the last night !! Location is great, just a short ride into Galle and lots of places nearby for lunch and a swim. If you are considering booking I would 100% recommend this place for a beautiful relaxing holiday !
10/10This place is absolute magic! The moment we stepped through the door we were treated like royalty. Nothing was too difficult and no request was too much for Madura, Saman and the rest of the staff. All done with big smiles and graciousness. Even playing with the kids and collecting rocks and wildlife wasn't too much trouble! The house itself is beautiful with stunning views and wonderful decor. It is also ideally situated and makes getting around the area very easy. I highly recommend this place for anyone wanting a slice of paradise!
