Located near the Golden Mile of Colombo, minutes away from Mount Lavinia town, the ‘beach retreat’ of Sri Lanka, Mount Lodge is a gorgeous bungalow with inner and outer courtyard gardens, sprawling colonial-style bedrooms, and luxurious interiors designed by renowned architect C. Anjalendran.
The three-bedroom lodge is meant for memorable family holidays and you can never get enough of the breezy spaces flooded with sunlight. You can explore local Sri Lankan bazaars nearby, enjoy traditional Sri Lankan cuisine for breakfast, and have a merry time with friends and family.
Mount Lodge is home to three bedrooms, the master suite, courtyard suite, and garden suite. The master suite boasts a private living room and access to the larger garden courtyard, the courtyard suite features a private inner garden while the garden suite offers exquisite views into the outer courtyard. Each bedroom is defined with luxurious interiors that are at once stately, comfortable, and sophisticated.
Canopied king-sized or twin beds allow you to enjoy restful sleep without getting disturbed. The master bedroom and courtyard suite even feature writing desks if you need to get work done or maybe start writing a book! Each bedroom comes with an ensuite bathroom with showers and other amenities.
Mount Lodge is shielded from the outside with high boundary walls to ensure the privacy of guests. The inner sanctum has a dedicated courtyard garden with luscious tropical greenery that you can enjoy as you lounge on the wrought-iron alfresco dinner table with beautifully-crafted chairs. This outdoor area is perfect for breakfast or evening tea amidst the fresh air and bountiful nature. You will find garden pathways and vegetation walls all around the house so you can enjoy a wholesome view of verdant greenery from each part of the villa.
The lodge is a home away from home with not one but two living rooms on either of the two floors. The one downstairs stands just beside the courtyard garden and another inner garden that looms overhead while the one upstairs features large windows overlooking the verdure of the garden. The living rooms are furnished with plush sofas and arm chairs, the walls are adorned with vibrant and selective artwork while the sunlight pours in from the doors and windows. The rooms are naturally ventilated so you won’t even feel the need for an air-con.
Once the sun sets, the warm lights create an intimate ambiance where you can spend quality time with your loved ones. Head on upstairs for a more casual lounge area or you can even choose to dine indoors on the dining table. You have the luxury of relishing delicious local flavours right here at the villa or head on down to the beach for seaside dining. A traditional or western breakfast is served each morning. Choose from a variety of dishes like string hoppers, milk rice omelettes, or a continental spread.
Welcome to a boutique hideaway close to the beach in Mount Lavinia where each day will be spent in bliss. Relax while the staff takes care of the day-to-day chores and all you have to do is rest and take it easy. A breakfast, either Sri Lankan or western, is served as per your wishes and other meals can be prepped as well. The hosts are friendly and you can even ask for recommendations on where to go and what to see. Some services may be charged additionally.
Colombo is only a train ride away and you can explore the local bazaar, Pettah, to enjoy the sights of hawkers selling local food and wares. There are numerous restaurants, cafes, and bars in the area for you to explore and you can even take a breather, get a drink, and watch the sunsets across the Indian Ocean. Guests can visit the pool at Mount Lavinia Hotel as well.
10/10We LOVED this beautiful home! And the caretakers were just amazing, cooking delicious breakfasts every day and several dinners. Benjamin was so helpful and flexible and the caretakers were very friendly and we loved the area- walked to the beach, walked to some markets and took a cooking class! We Loved the entire stay! Thank you!
10/10This home is very unique in its design. Is elegant, rustic, spacious and most of all comfortable. The best part of the home is the care takers Gamini and Padmini, who elevate your experience. They look after you as family, with their Sri Lankan hospitality and the food, oh the authentic home cooked food is absolutely delicious. Just let them know what your heart desires and they’ll buy the ingredients for you and prepare it. Fab experience!
