The unique Villa Sulanga features three bedrooms that are quaint, lovely, and comfortable. Two bedrooms are interconnected and located upstairs opening onto a wide veranda to reveal the Indian Ocean. The third bedroom is found on the ground floor with an outdoor shower. Four-poster, canopied king-sized beds, traditional furniture, and slanted ceilings exude an old-world charm.
Antique wooden doors lead directly to the courtyard or the veranda upstairs thus, allowing in ample sunlight and fresh air when you need it. The bedrooms are air-conditioned and come with ensuite bathrooms. The ensuites are spacious with a luxurious bathtub in the first bedroom and showers in the other two.
A 15-metre infinity swimming pool that overlooks the stunning ocean greets you at Villa Sulanga as soon you step out to the terrace. The expansive terrace is well-furnished with wicker chairs and outdoor coffee tables for a quaint corner for your morning or evening tea. Relax on the sunbeds placed on the pool deck as you breathe in the fresh coastal air.
Upstairs, you can access the spacious veranda that extends panoramic views of the scenery. Villa Sulanga features exquisite and well-kept gardens that are just perfect if you are traveling with kids or if you wish to simply relax on the freshly-cut grass.
The comfortable and homely living area at Villa Sulanga has been designed to cater to a familiar ambiance with plush natural-grey couches with brightly-coloured throw pillows. You have a stunning collection of artefacts gathered from across the island of Sri Lanka along with Chinese furniture, framed mirrors, vases, and artwork. The colonial-inspired décor is testament to the history of Sri Lanka and elements of modern tropical living echo the work of renowned architect Geoffrey Bawa.
The dining area at Villa Sulanga is housed separately in an open-concept pavilion or a traditional ambalama – a place to rest – adjacent to the living room. The dining room extends views of the ocean right from the table itself so you have an amazing backdrop while you relish wholesome Sri Lankan food. For your enjoyment, you have complete access to the books and DVD library to keep yourself busy when it is too hot to go outside or if you want to stay indoors and rest. A private chef is happy to delight you with local, and international, flavours on request.
Villa Sulanga is a secure property looked after by private staff and management to ensure that your stay is worry-free. A villa manager and housekeeping staff are always there when you need their assistance. The staff can arrange for transportation and airport transfers.
The location of Villa Sulanga is idyllic since it is perched on a spectacular beach along the coast only 2 km from Koggala Lake. A short drive, 25-minutes, can take you to the historic centre of Galle city where you can visit the UNESCO Heritage Site i.e. a 17th-century Dutch Fort.
