The master suite is huge. It has a private seating area and a library with an impressive collection of books and magazines. The second bedroom has a four-posted antique bed. A vast garden and manicured lawn surround the property. It is so serene that it seems like a haven of tranquillity. Set on a hill, the estate covers 20 acres and offers views of the vast flood plains and even Adam’s Peak to the north and the winding Gin River to the south. Go for a refreshingly cool swim in the pool, or relax on a poolside lounger, while the kids have fun on the grassy lawn. A shaded veranda has an outdoor lounging and dining area.
There are numerous large living and common areas throughout the house. The living room is open from all sides and provides the feeling as if you are outside. Many antiques and collectibles decorate this space. It has a large sofa area and also a study table. You will find several other cozier seating areas where you can be alone or in smaller groups. The villa has a fantastic location in the southwestern part of the island, between Wakwella and Hapugala. With the hills, valleys, and forests all around, the villa certainly seems like a nature recluse. But it is still close to many attractions. 10/10A very special place Armitage Hill is one of the most special places I have stayed. Stunning design, incredible grounds, amazing pool and lovely staff. Food great too! (particularly the banana flambe). It was such a privilege to experience the home of the late Kerry Hill, having long-admired the Aman hotels he designed.
