The villa has 4 superb bedrooms for 8 guests. They are all ensuite and air-conditioned. The main house has three, while the fourth bedroom is located in a separate pavilion within the garden. It is set slightly apart and offers more privacy. In the main house, two bedrooms are located on either side of the living area. The remaining bedroom is on the other side of the kitchen and the dining veranda.
You can choose from double or twin bedrooms. If you are traveling with family, then the kids can stay in the twin room. It is connected to a double room with an interconnected bathroom, making it a good choice for young families.
Access to the house is through a paved village track that cuts through the rice paddy fields, tall trees, and ponds. As you meander through the village, you will feel that you are reaching somewhere special. On entering the villa compound, your gaze is sure to be drawn toward the glistening private pool, which is framed between coconut palms and other tall trees. The infinity-edge pool seems to merge with the rice fields beyond.
Casually wade through the water or relax on a poolside lounger. You will find a shaded pavilion on one side, which is open on three sides. It features a lovely seating area for you to enjoy the splendors of nature. Elsewhere, you will find smaller grassy courtyards too.
You enter the house through a lofty and spacious hall, which is the formal living room. It has comfortable sofas on one side and a desk on the other. A designer chandelier hangs from the tall ceiling. Just outside this hall, you will find a covered verandah with a second seating area.
The furniture throughout this luxury property is beautifully designed. Everything is handmade. A second covered verandah has a formal dining area. The kitchen is located on one side of the pool. This too has a smaller dining table with high chairs.
You will find everything you need at Kumbura Villa. All the rooms are air-conditioned. The kitchen has modern appliances, tableware, and glassware. Hot water, soaps, shampoos, and towels are there in the bathrooms. The garden has hammocks. There are many poolside loungers. You will also find a first-aid kit and a fire extinguisher. The house chef can prepare the meals for a charge or you can cook yourself.
This family-friendly villa is located very close to the scenic Koggala Lake or inland lagoon in southern Sri Lanka. The lake has several islands and a mangrove swamp, which is the home of many birds. There are cinnamon plantations and a tea estate in the area, and even a turtle sanctuary. Koggale and Thalpe are the closest beaches. The world-famous Galle Fort is also an easy drive away.
10/10The villa is absolutely gorgeous. The pool and outdoor spaces with an expansive view of the paddy fields was exceptional. The chef, Manjula, and all of the staff at the villa are wonderful and made us feel so comfortable and taken care of!

10/10Super cosy family-friendly villa Down a tea plantation-lined drive, Kumbura was magical from the start. The house felt like a home away from home – very cosy, the type of place you can just curl up on a sofa and relax. The staff – particularly Manjula - were absolutely lovely, so smiley! Fantastic pool overlooking the rice paddy fields – plus the pool is in the middle of the villa so great for keeping an eye on little ones. Would love to go back.
