Villa Red Cliffs is a spectacular ocean-front 3-bedroom luxury retreat perched on the edge of Sri Lanka’s beautiful red cliffs overlooking the gorgeous bays of Mirissa and Weligama. From everywhere in the amazingly beautiful private piece of paradise, you are treated to the panoramic views over the Southern Indian ocean, the harbours, mountains and white-sand beaches that will take your breath away and steal your heart instantly. The villa is designed by the renowned architect Geoffrey Bawa giving it its unique charismatic character while surrounded by an expansive tropical garden with a sparkling swimming pool and access to two private beaches.
The estate features three bedrooms. One located on a higher split level of the garden above the living pavilion and the other two at the level below. The upper level room is designed open-concept providing you with fresh ocean breezes throughout and the rooms are adjoined by a lounge area overlooking the ocean. The lower level rooms open up directly to the garden. Two of the rooms feature large king-size beds draped with white mosquito nets and they come with private en-suites fitted with rain-showers and some even with a large soaking bathtub. The twin-bedded room is perfect for the kids, sharing the bathroom of the parents.

The split-level cliff-edged garden features a breathtaking private swimming pool where you can swim laps while gazing at the enchanting view of the endless blue ocean with the gorgeous red cliffs as the backdrop. The estate also features two pristine private beaches for afternoon beach strolls, swimming and snorkelling. In the garden there are sunbeds for those wanting to tan, deluxe day-beds for day-time snoozing or reading books and hammocks for ultimate relaxation to the calming sound of the oceans waves, soft wind breezes and the singing of birds. The alfresco dining area is perfect for BBQ garden feasts or intimate candlelight dinners beneath the starry sky.
The uniquely designed living pavilion sits underneath a galvanizes steel deck roof and it is designed completely open to the garden on all sides to maximize the breathtaking views and to provide you with a great sense of openness allowing you to experience the tropical life at best. There is a comfy sitting area and a huge dining table that sits on an old electricity generator, giving a modern industrial touch. For entertainment there is a cosy TV lounge where you can watch movies together in the evening.
Villa Red Cliffs is fully staffed with a dedicated team, making sure everything is perfect during your stay. For in-villa dining there is a extensive menu with Sri Lankan and Western cuisine prepared by the excellent chef cook.
The villa is surrounded by breathtaking untouched nature and pristine beaches where you can go swimming, snorkelling and diving. During the calm season the water of the cove can be so still that even small kids can safely play in the water after building their castles in the sand. From the harbour you can go on a whale and dolphin watching tour and try the authentic local cuisine at one of the beach-side restaurants. Yogi Patanjali is a great place for practising yoga and meditation.
10/10The location is breathtaking, sited on the top of a cliff dominating the whole Welligama bay and Mirissa Harbour, a few steps from a quiet and beautiful temple and two almost private beaches. The house has a stunning design, but yet is very cosy, with its huge open air living and dining room making it perfect for the few rainy days, and the pool overlooking the ocean. The staff is great, with a particular thank you to Sumate for his kindness, and for organizing with the cool such nice dinners. The concierge support from Udeshika is perfect to organize any trip or activity. Thank you to you all.
10/10This Geoffrey Bawa - designed villa is truly special. There are living and dining areas in the open-plan, semi-al fresco common area at the front of the house, where you can just spend time, reading, eating or just being mesmerised by the view. There's also a huge lawn to run around on, or just chill in the pool which overlooks the ocean. We loved the lush garden and how the coconut trees framed every scene. Guests can also retreat indoors towards the back of the house, where the 3 bedrooms are split, with the master and ensuite upstairs, while the remaining 2 bedrooms, bathrooms, living area and pantry are located downstairs. The villa comes with a chef and service staff. Local meals and seafood platters here are magnificent. You will feast like kings and queens! Also love that the exclusive hilltop location is just 5 mins away from Mirissa Beach.
